As an RIT Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) team, we're tackling the challenge of implementing Mozilla Open Badges into activities on the XO Laptop of One Laptop Per Child (http://laptop.org). We are doing this in a modular way, so that our work can be integrated into other activities and games on the XO. As the XO's run a modified version of Fedora under the hood, we will be leveraging the same technology used by the FedBadges/FedMsg stack. This talk will also cover the social/educational benefits of gamification and game theory, as it relates to learning and student/individual motivation.
